Do I Need to Season a Pre-Seasoned Skillet?
The Field Skillet comes coated with just three seasoned layers of grapeseed oil. We focus on baking seasoning into the pan, not on top of it.
You don’t have to oven-season a Field Skillet, or any pre-seasoned cast iron pan; whether you want to is up to you.
The most important thing to do is cook with it often.
Easy Cleaning & Seasoning
Follow these steps every time you cook
1. Wash: Rinse your pan with warm water and use a brush to remove any food. (Soap is optional, but ok to use!)
2. Scour: Scour the cooking surface and walls with a chain mail scrubber to smooth out your existing seasoning.
3. Dry: Heat pan on stove for 3-5 min to evaporate any remaining moisture.
4. Oil: Apply a dab of seasoning oil to your skillet and spread it evenly with a rag or paper towel.
5. Wipe Dry: With a dry towel, wipe the pan to eliminate excess oil, leaving a dry, matte finish.
LIGHTER: At 4.5 pounds we found the perfect weight to make that makes it easy to maneuver around the stovetop, oven, and grill, while retaining the heft needed for high-heat searing.
INCLUDES CAST IRON CARE KIT: The kit contains a natural fiber brush for cleaning, chain mail scrubber for keeping your seasoning strong and smooth, and a 2oz tin of Field seasoning oil, optimized for bulletproof seasoning.
WORKS ON ALL COOKTOPS & GRILLS: Compatible with all stovetop burner types, including glass and ceramic induction ranges.
100% MADE IN THE USA: We work with iron sourced from American vendors, and pour our cast iron cookware using green sand castings—just like the most celebrated American vintage cast iron manufacturers, Griswold and Wagner.
SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED & ISO CERTIFIED: Scrap iron is remelted for future pours and sand from the castings is continuously cycled back into production with zero waste. Every iron pour at our foundry is sampled and tested to ensure the highest standards.
NATURALLY NONSTICK & NONTOXIC: Field Skillets come pre-seasoned with organic grapeseed oil. As you cook your pan will develop a more seasoning, becoming more nonstick over time without any toxic chemicals.
